Altitude affects speed - Texas Mile stockers are around 155 at about 400 ft above sea level. Next biggest effect is ambient temperature.

http://www.texasmile.net/results/Oct...leResults.html and look for car 107.
That ZR-1 is mildly modified with Vette Drs top end.

Well since that Pirate up in BG got ahold of my Beast and did his topend porting along with SW headers, I reckon to be over the 150mph limit where the ECTA requires fullup safety stuff.

Dang...., and I just got the Bose all fixed up for the Delightful & Wonderful Mrs Kari (She Who Must Be Obeyed) to listen to. Hate to pull all of that stuff out to weld in a rollbar.

I wonder what would happen if I showed up and Oops - - - "Didn't know that old C4 would go that fast!"

Love that "she who must be obeyed"!

Ya could always just do that "ooops, darn she's just stock. Didn't think it could get that fast in a mile? Da ya think them headers did that?"

For Las Vegas, the under 168mph category does not require a roll bar
for a non-convertible. I think a bolt on harness bar was sufficient.
Check out your local rules before you go cutting your car up (unless
the wife just wants a roll bar!).

Yes, altitude, Vegas is at least 1,000 above sea level as is Phx
Could run 3 to 4 more MPH at sea level
You will have to go thru tech

Heck I just pulled the rollbar out of my Beast last spring. Still wouldn't have been enough for the ECTA rulebook.

http://www.ecta-lsr.com/rules/2008Ru...ndum032308.pdf

"..... All cars in competition over 135 MPH, must be equipped with a roll bar or roll cage structure. All closed cars between 135 MPH and 150 MPH must have a 4-point roll bar. All closed cars between 150 and 175 MPH must have a 6-point roll bar. All closed cars over 175 MPH must have a full roll cage....."

Oh well - - - The wife does like Vegas...., maybe I should head West instead of East.

Las Vegas (Nellis AFB) is at 1840'

There were 5 ZR-1's and the slowest was 156.4.

The results are posted here:
