What are the differences in glass tops by year, I know someone who bought one and it will not fit his 92. I thought you could switch hardware and make it work.

Not sure I thought the 84-86 and then the 86-88 was the shift points to the newer style. Or 89-96 Not sure if an adaptor is available Lee.
According to madvet.com on their note size of the brackets are not the only issue Tech Note: Early 1986 design measures 4 9/16" from the sunvisor pin to the roof panel mounting bolt (or 27.5" pin to pin on the top). Late 1986 measures 2 3/4" from the sunvisor pin to the roof panel mounting bolt (or 31.5" pin to pin on the top). If im reading this correctly the mounting locations AND the brackets are different. I would certainly believe it more practical to buy the "correct fit" and resell the incorrect after you ID the top. There's certainly less aggravation with fitment if you don't screw with the body half of the package.
Here's a link to the three styles: http://www.corvettesouth.com/images/C4roofpanels.jpg Here's a link to the three styles and also a "how to measure" from visor mount: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...cement-c4.html Last edited by WVZR-1; 03-19-2009 at 03:58 AM. |
