Tim, you need to talk with Mark Haibeck about this job. Had mine done about 2 months ago by a differential shop at Marc's suggestion. Seems there is some kind of Crush sleeve that can be damaged, don't remember all the details.

You want to speak to the person who did your 4.10 install! What brand of gears did you buy? There's three pinion pre-load arrangements depending on the build. Shims at both bearings original Dana, a 70mm tall crush-sleeve by generally the "lesser" vendors and a 16mm collar used by the later Dana builds including Vette and Viper.
Crush-sleeves and collars are generally considered "one-time" devices! |
