Anyone bashing the LT-5 has never experienced the sound and sensation of all those wonderful parts "moving in close formation." The LT-5 puts out a unique and potent roar and it loves to rev like few engines can. I love it every time I hear it.

Here's my 2 cents. I watched the black car and the purple car sold at very high numbers, although I think they they would have been higher if sold during prime time. Why did GM decide to sell these cars on the first day of BJ?
![]() As we all know they are very special cars and I don't htink there are any others like them. Course, I am pretty passionate about the ZR-1 ![]() |

My wife asked me during the auction why I was watching it if it was making me soooo mad listening to the guy bash the LT5. I went on a short rant about all of the things the guy could have been saying about the car, but couldn't really answer her question. I guess I was just glad to see these great cars getting some TV time. Maybe it will cause someone who was watching the auction to look into the ZR-1's and become as big a fan of them as I am.

Some people are not sales people and some of the sales guys for BJ are idiots.

But at least the ZR-1 got some media face time and im with you Ryan that 454 was prob a pig
![]() This brings up a valid point - does anybody know what that 454 brought up HP wise? I could have sworn they said it would leave the LT5 in the dust? |

I watched & I don't remember anyone saying " leaving the LT5 in the dust". I think that they intimated that the 454 was more desireable due to it's abundant LOW RPM torque. I think that all of the presenters forgot that back in the early 70's 454 LS5's were referred to as "garbage truck motors" due to their suitability for hauling heavy loads at low engine speeds.
![]() I do remember that Mr. Dr. Date Code expressed that his choice would be for the 454 C4 & why didn't they make that car? I found that to be a bit strange in that if you wanted to go fast in a straight line a BB camaro or Nova or perhaps the SS 454/ LS6 for sure or any of the BB C2's or C3's. I guess I would have thought that those guys would have known that the corvettes after the C3 gen were first to be sports cars. I found the sale of that virgin red/saddle 90 warmed the heart very much and the nicest thing that the presenters said was not much about the drive train. ![]()

That just jogged my memory, the guy said something like it was a mistake for GM not to make the big block car etc etc. I often think the announcers are not educated and are reading off of cards and the conversation often seems "forced" at best. When that one announcer was talking about John Heinrency, the conversation seemed awkward at best. |

![]() ![]() At any rate, our ZR-1's have all the ingredients to be one of historys greats. Little is known about them, there was limited production, and they have an almost cult following. (thats us ![]() ![]() |
