you don't HAVE to use glue, so don't worry about it now. it just makes it easier to install on some things, plus if you need to trim it's way easier, plus if you ever have wicked back-fire or nitrous sneeze it help's keep the gasket together if you have some thin areas. i use the 3-M stuff i mentioned a lot.
