Default Which X-Pipe?

My 90Z has ported plenum & IJH, SW headers, hi flo cats, and Borla Challenge exhaust (2-3/4"). I'm interested in changing the resonator to x-pipe.

I've already searched this forum and the "other" forums but not quite sure I've gotten all the answers.

1) Anyone have this combo? (headers, Borla Challenge & x-pipe). If so, please list pros & cons of this setup (i.e. what you like/don't like).

2) Can anyone suggest a stainless x-pipe that won't break the bank and will fit the Borla setup with the least amount of fitment hassle? I'm thinking that a 3" x-pipe might work best in this setup provided it fits OK. btw, I think the Magnaflow 3" x-pipe, while it looks good, is too wide to easily fit.

Thanks,
George

George, from my vague memory of the Borla set up, I believe it is a 2.75 diameter system, which will cause you some headaches in going with a 3" x-pipe. Most of the x-pipes on the market are designed to fit with the B&B system it seems, unless you are doing custom fab of your complete system.

How is installation of the pieces going? BTW, I'll be down at SGC in Nov.

Default Re: Which X-Pipe?

Jeff,
The Borla is indeed a 2.75 setup. Since I have various pieces & parts of several systems, adapters, etc. available to measure & put together, I believe that 2.75" pipe which is "slightly" expanded will fit very nicely inside 3" pipe. The main fitment issue will be the center to center dimension. I can't at the moment easily access the underneath of my Z to measure the center to center dimension but I'm guessing that it is between 3.75" & 4.5" (i.e. approx. 1" to 2" space between the pipes). Do you happen to know the dimensions of the SW x-pipe (i.e. length, width, pipe size, center to center, etc.)? Also, can you PM me with a price on the SW?

Haven't started installation but plan to real soon. Just got back from the doctor a few minutes ago (follow up visit). Right lung has improved but still have crud showing up in the x-rays. Apparently I had a much more severe case of pneumonia than I even realized and the recupe time is going to be another 6-8 weeks or longer to get back totally 100%. But I'm feeling better and stronger each day, walking about a mile each day to build up stamina, and starting to get back on all my "undone" projects ... putting the Z back together is top priority since I'm planning on being at SGC with the Z. I'll definitely have to get you a "cold" one when we finally meet.

Any other help/info/advice on the x-pipe would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your response.

See you next month.

George
