Default Why not ?

I have been looking at post in the CAC , LT4, LS1,ZR1 the C6 to C4's . If all these other engines are as good or better than the LT5 why doesn't GM go after the record that they set with the LT5 and regain it . They have the tools with the new ZR1 or do they just not care or just a bunch of tight wads.

im not sure i understand your post, modular motors are alot more expensive than pushrod motors as far as production goes. GM wants to make money on the vettes.

To much to lose, not enough to gain.

And no money.

That's what I ment the ZR1 was and is a very durable engine,or platform. Yes costly but durable. So if durability is not a problem then why not go for the record. I wouldn't buy a car that can't stay together no matter how fast. I would just build a car you tear down at the end of a season of racing. Isn't that why we bought a ZR1.

a couple of simple reasons, the FIA is for bragging rights and really doesn't do that much for advertising. GM is in biz to make money. the high end stuff sells like crazy without a single dime spent on ads.

keep in mind EDS kicked in the $$ back when the original record was set, and there was an l98 car too.

GM did spend the big bucks on dyno and 24 hour testing at tracks like VIR

that was $$ better spent than the FIA which doesn't give the same eval data they were after dyno and track testing

the "ring" seems to be all the rage today, so GM spends their money there

don't underestimate the $$ needed to break the record, it's more than you might think,
