does anyone have any guidance on lifter wear? My cams look great but I noticed one lifter is slightly dished more than the others. Thank you.

None of the lifters should be "dished". If they're all dished, then a lot of lifter wear has occurred.
Go to this web page then click on the small picture of the Sealed Power lifter, it will show you what the face of the lifter should look like. How many miles are on the engine?

Sorry. Marc Haibeck is pretty much the world wide expert on C4 ZR-1s (although there are many here who would also qualify in many areas). His website is http://www.zr1specialist.com/. (Don't be alarmed if your anti virus software says it is unsecured; it is fine).Pete is Pete here on the forum. He is located near Marc in the Chicago area and has done a lot of cams and other things for folks. Also Jerry at Jerry's Gaskets is the most knowledgeable on parts (and who you have already contacted).--Bob

Cams suck means what exactly? Only one exhaust or intake cam? Or one whole cam shaft?
Only one lifter was dished......or all lifters? Intake or exhaust? Sounds like only one lifter....Then below....All lifters...... It would be interesting to get Marcs opinion on the cause ![]() It could be previous maintenance, Lubrication Issues, Oil ZDDP, Heat Treatment.....and on and on....Often Simply Unexplained 🙃 When you remove the Heads......Let us know how the Cylinder walls look 👍 I had one intake canshaft with abnormal wear one time which could only be explained in an abnormal heat treatment........ Maybe that is your case also ![]() Post 294 - Camshaft Abnormal Wear I found an LT5 Engine on the "very Cheep" one time finding the Cylinder Walls were in very rough shape but Crank Shaft and Rods were perfect (bought new Cylinder Sleeves and Rings from Jerry and still have to assemble that engine 😁

Thank you WARP TEN. Jerry has been very helpful already. I've ordered almost every part that he sells this week.
Dynomite all my lifters showed various degrees of dishing. I was able see the difference in primary intake lobes between cylinders 6 and 8. I ordered new cams from Jerry's. Looks like cylinder 7 and 8 had head gasket leaks. I have not dissembled the heads yet. I bought this car 95 ZR1 #348 not running and partially taken apart. It has a clean carfax and shows around 130K. It is a genuine turd right now. I did get it running by spraying some 50:1 in the intake. This adventure started when I tried to replace the injectors. Once the plenum was off I was able to see a ton of carbon on the secondary intake valves. So out she came. Scope creep engaged! |

Cylinders are great except for #8 looks like a small chip in the coating. #7 has some odd looking staining. I ordered replacements. Pistons, rods and crank are very nice.
