Also - Here's a video I posted privately for Jonny Smith showing the service history and paperwork for the car, might be of interest as it shows some of the German stuff:

Interesting photo of the vin plate! I never saw one of those. You still have the VIN number stamped in the front frame under the pop up driver light too?? In this place is my VIN number...

The plate gives some additional information such as manufacturer and model name, maximum load capacity, etc. If the car comes without you have to add one, so did I on my Mark III and of course my ZR-1. It is not actually checked by anyone. It's a useless piece of German bureaucracy. Only during our mandatory bi-annual federal inspection they make sure it's there. I'm not too sure whether or not newer cars still have it. But it's definitely needed on older cars.

Thank's for the explanation Matt. Here in Spain it's not necessary to install another vin plate. They respect original one.

Excited to see this Z get back on the road nice job documenting and thanks for sharing. Certainly a worthy challenge. I have recently acquired the exact same 91 grey on black #1564, and have most things sorted now after a 20 year hibernation, covered and stored a lift indoors warm and dry so a sort of barn find and a somewhat easier undertaking. To date with only a few road trips to town , I can say it will be worth the effort as these are truly fabulous cars to drive. All the hype is completely true. A few more gremlins to sort and we can do a real road trip. Wishing you guys success and a heap of fun.

Hi all! I hope you're all well! For some reason I can no longer post on my previous user account so I've opened a new one
![]() Russ I would LOVE a lift and a warm place to work on ours!! Thanks for the kind words and I hope you get yours to 100% also! Still looking to try and source an ECM for ours which seems to be very tricky, I would rather buy one then send ours off for repair to eliminate downtime but also so we've got a spare... Any leads appreciated! |

The current tires on the car are the Goodyear Gatorback OEM models correct? What was the plan for the replacements? The 315 rear tire sizes seem fairly rare with few options. Is that the same in the UK? Were you planning to go low cost? Or best available? Is the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 (an OEM option on the C8) available in the UK?
