ATI damper install question...
I have an ATI damper going onto a sonny bryant crank.
the washer is larger than the hole where it is supposed to be going into.... what gives with that? anyone else using an ATI damper have any issues with this? I would like to use GM parts whenever I can so I guess I have to machine the washer down to be able to fit inside the front of the ATI damper if I am not missing something obvious... Anyone know the diameter/pitch of the crank bolt? thanks John |

Re: ATI damper install question...
I'm running an ATI. Washer fit perfectly. Wouldn't have hesitated to turn it down a bit if if hadn't. Crank bolt is M16x1. My motor machine shop had to hone the bore of the ATI hub to get it to fit the Bryant crankshaft which is the normal procedure. Be sure to grind down the two bolt bosses on the underside of the water pump so the outer shell of the damper doesn't rub.

Re: ATI damper install question...
thank you Phil fro the info.
I checked the part numbers and it seems correct. I have heard that he hub is a little tight, I will look into that as well. It seems that the back side of my washer is mushroomed out a little. I will clean up the outside on my lathe just enough to lay flat in the hub. John |
