Default Death of a ZR-1

I've been shopping for a ZR-1 for a while now. Along the way I have narrowed down my ideal car. High on that list was a 93' ZR-1 in Quasar Blue. There were only 7 built that year. Well, I recently learned there now only 6.

In my search for the right ZR-1 the below ad for sale popped up.

https://www.streetsideclassics.com/v...th-anniversary

The car was sold by Streetside Classics out of Atlanta in 2016. I love everything about this car so I reached out to Streetside Classics to see if they could put me in touch with the party they sold it to and see if they might be interested in passing it along to me.

To the dealership's credit, they did a search and found the car but it was bad news. Apparently in 2016 the car was destroyed in a flood in Texas. Whether it was salvagable in any way is unknown but the VIN is recorded as a 'total loss'.

I thought the forum might want to know so the information can be added to the registry.

VIN: 1G1YZ23J1P5800188

The King is dead...long live the King.

Anyone have one of the remaining six?

Yeah Phil, that was mine. I bought it from the original owner in 1994 with 6,000 miles on it. Jim bought it from me in 2007 with about 74,000 miles on it. I believe it might have about 130,00 now. I recall that he drove it to Bowling Green one year so he could have the odometer turn 100,000 running down the drag strip at Beech Bend. I remember it as a really great ZR-1 that I enjoyed very much, in part because of its rarity. Marc Haibeck used it as a development mule for Marc to create a set of shorty headers with unusual removable cats, so unless Jim has changed them out they would still be on the car. --Bob

My records show that 93 Quasar Blue serial # 188 was a "Copart non-repair salvage" in Oct 2017 and "Total - Houston flood victim."

I don't have any other info.

Jim
