+4 Can't say enough about Bill doing the trans work for you. The ZF is his specialty. He has developed an excellent repair/upgrade regime to near perfection. IOW, Bill won't be "learning by doing" on your transmission. He's the source for all the many particulars associated with this transmission.

Welcome to the forum! You just did the one of the best things ou could do for the car by joining. I too am not a mechanic but also not afraid to get dirty. There are STILL things I won't do to the car, but since joining I've redone my:
Fuel Pumps Fuel Injectors O2 Sensors Entire Exhaust (Corsa Install) Oil Cooler lines All thanks to the help and guidance from this forum. This is by far the best car community on the internet and there is NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION. When in doubt, JUST ASK!!! Again Welcome to the registry! and Congrats on the ZR-1!

Thanks for the welcome. The ZR-1 is a fantastic ride just as it sets and I plan to enjoy restoring this ZR-1 to a great daily driver level and drive the tires off it while I am doing it. It's my 3rd C4, a 93 vert and a 95 coupe, both now sold
. I like the idea of a vacation to Arizona to drop off the car at Bill's shop. Just a short drive from Oklahoma, right? Thanks for the input and I will be picking your brains and the forum threads as I go forward. |

I’ve got the twin to your car, 91”white/black 70Kmi.
Had it for 27 years. I’ve pulled the trans by myself a number of times, for rebuilds, clutches, etc., as I drag raced the car a lot in the nineties. It can be done with normal hand tools and no lift. But it IS a PITA. Dropping the car at an experienced shop is a good idea, but using the bus, or airline, to get home is not at this time. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry |

Bob - I was looking for pologreen but bought this white one because it was such a good deal ($9500). My other two vettes were pologreen and just really like that color. But this arctic white is growing on me. After the tranny, A/C work, and paint/body guess I will have 15 to 20k (depending on the paint) in this before I start doing the upgrades.
Probably will have a shop pull and ship the transmission to AZ just because of work schedule. I have used Pinnacle Performance in Owasso, OK for everything else on other cars I don't feel like doing and have been more than happy with their results. They did the checkout on the ZR-1 before I bought it. He has worked on a few in the past. |

Previous owner of my car had Top Flight Corvette in San Diego remove/ship to Bill B, Bill did his magic and return with Bills suggestions for reinstall at Top Flight, was perfect for over 50 K miles until I sold it, just change the fluid as needed

Welcome, congratulations, and best wishes with your rebuild of this legendary car that we all obsess about here. Never fear, you have a lot of help here. Mine is in Japan so I can tell you all about logistic challenges and cost of ownership. Hell, when I was in Hawaii it was not much different. [emoji38] Aloha!! 🤙🏼
