Re: virus projects?
Like some have stated, was inspired by the information supplied by Hans and Mark regarding brakes. I had converted to C5 front calipers years ago but were not real impressed with the change, think I kind of liked the feel of stock better. Maybe it did not feel balanced with changing the front only and not both front and rear? Anyhow felt like I had to help the economy so found what might be the last set of new front and rear 96 Grand Sport calipers and pulled the trigger. Vendor could not believe they had them and checked to be sure before taking my order. The 4 arrived yesterday in GM boxes. Now will have to look at the rotors and pads.

Re: virus projects?
Since were all talking brakes, Ill throw in my latest experience. I bought my car and the P.O. had purchased new stock front calipers already on the car. Also had EBC dimpled and slotted rotors and I think the Red pads,,,, looked cool but the the overall package of the rotors and pads wasnt impressive to me.
I could feel and hear the slots when braking in the seat, steering wheel and pedal. Braking didnt seem any better than stock to me. They were also already warped and you could feel that in the pedal when coming to a stop. Luckily, in the pile of parts I received with the purchase of the car, the original rotors were included. I had them mic'd and they were a bit warped... machinist trued them up and I bought a new set of "gold series pads from my local car quest. Car stops on a dime, very nice, firm pedal feel. No more noise from the slots.... just an all around better experience for a street driven car in my humble opinion. I see no real reason other than aesthetics perhaps, and maybe bragging rights to have all the "glitter" for a street driven car.... even when you throw in some spirited mountain driving, still the stock system is very capable and reliable. Dont get me wrong, I like how the GS calipers look without a doubt, and Id get them if they were more reasonably priced... and they should have made them red instead of black, or offered both red & black.... again, in my humble opinion...

Re: virus projects?
Finished completely rebuilding the calipers including all the parking brake items and installed back on the car (kept the originals for future). Went with Power Stop Ceramic pads on front, haven't bought rear pads yet (OE on it now but just as place keeper) . The parking brake was a pain to get back correct. That was the first time I ever took the parking brake apart.

Re: virus projects?
Looks great Hans and I now have the same set up but still need to do the install. Which method did you use to bed in the new brakes?

Re: virus projects?
Thanks, I followed the directions that are included with the pads. 5 aggressive stops from 40mph down to 10mph, 5 moderate stops from 40mph down to 25mph then 5 minutes of diving without using the brakes (much) too cool them. In my driving after that I can feel the difference already. Much better initial bite and better overall brake feel. These should serve nicely for the very occasional aggressive driving I do. I love the new look!
