Wisdom for a car that has been sitting.....
Hi y'all.....
I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I have a 92 ZR-1 that has been sitting inside for a few years that I am finally putting time and money into. When I put her up, I was having overheating issues and backfire and stumbling issues. I have the plenum off and have changed all plugs and plug wires, as well as look for disconnected vacuum lines, etc. I am seeking wisdom and input on two things: 1. While I have the plenum off, what else should I tackle while there? 2. What else should I change/ fix/ inspect on a car that has been sitting for a bit? Thank you! .....Dan |

Probably your best bet is look at Dynomites posts that are stickied in the technical section.

Hi
I would think you would want to address the over heating issue for sure. How hot was it getting? Do the fans come on? Might be a good idea also to pull the shroud and clean out the debris between the radiator and the condenser which is commonly full of leaves, plastic, grass, bugs etc... Were the injectors ever replaced? If original, they need to be swapped out. Check for broken vacume lines and leaks in the system. MAP sensor hose might need to be replaced also.. What car number do you have?

Change coils there cheap enough...Starter maybe.....Only say this because when I put my plenum back on after porting ,car would not start...It was the starter....Had to pull plenum again ....😞

Thanks everyone for helping to dial in my work list. Now is a great time to be out in the shop -- nowhere to go, nothing on TV, and it's hard to get the corona virus from a ZR-1.
32valvZ.....I have car #320 (white/black). .....Dan |
