Oil 'pan' question>>>
This weekend going to change out all the fluids so while I have car up on a lift wanted to check out everything... what is the torque spec and tightening sequence for the oil pan bolts?
Here is what I am using for fluids: Amsoil AMO for engine with Bosch 3401 filter Mobil 1 syn 75-90W with GM Limited Slip Additive for diff BMW sourced Castrol TWS 10-60W for tranny Power flush cooling system Already changed out power steering fluid (GM spec) and brake fluid ... I should be ready then and now to Virginia State emissions inspection ... Michael Last edited by ZR1Vette; 01-17-2008 at 07:21 AM. |

Re: Oil 'pan' question>>>
oil pan bolts 20 lb/ft
I just kind of do the "X" thing from the center everytime I'm under there.

Re: Oil 'pan' question>>>
Yeah, there is no tightening sequence in the FSM. FYI, the small bolts at the very front have a different torque value than the rest. Not that I could get a torque wrench on them anyways.
Thanks for the reminder on the power steering. I've changed all the other fluids, but haven't touched that one.

Re: Oil 'pan' question>>>
The front bolts you can get only by removing the K rail support pieces, which isn't that big of a deal to remove. the front two bolts are 89 in lbs. The others are 20 ft lbs. Don't forget some are double nutted as they hold brackets and shields, so remove those to access the real bolt that holds the pan secure.
And there is no set torque pattern. |

Re: Oil 'pan' question>>>
If you want to do a sequence there's one in the factory supplement 90-93. Think it's showing a 93 pan.
