my sheriffs deputy friend told me initially these tickets will be a CHP enforcement, but could also be any dept. depending on who gets the state grant for OT for special enforcement.


Of course he was worried more than anybody with his obnoxious Corsa sport pipe set. The citing officer has the option to send you to a smog referee or just the fine. At first it will be imports, but probably catless straight pipe cars will get nicked too.

A few years ago they cracked down on Californians registering their cars out of state to bypass state emissions regulations. It was very widespread. Today, if they stop you with out of state plates and you have a California drivers license (or otherwise make it known your a California resident) your toast. I believe similar penalties apply.

I did not know you could get plates in another state without having a Drivers License in that State.

Now Illegal Immigrants can get Drivers License in CA.....lots has changed over the years
