Default Moldex Crankshaft Shop Visit

Was in Detroit this week attending a conference. Had some spare time before catching my plane so stopped by Moldex Crankshaft in Redford. Had a nice chat and shop tour by the owner Joe Flower. A true master machinist if there ever was one. Turns out amazing work with his machines.

Very cool, here’s a picture of the piece of art, flat plane crank they produced for the Hovemann Racing team in Germany running the crazy 800hp LT5. It was only recently delivered.

Jerrys Gaskets is pleased to be of service to Holger Hovemann & Norbert Vornholt. We worked as the intermediary between Holger & Moldex. The flat plane crank Hans posted a photo of is the second one produced by Moldex. The picture is excellent but seeing it in person is incredible. Absolutely fantastic work. We just recently shipped the crank and other parts to Holger.

Joe at Moldex is great to work with, always accessible, easy to work with and obviously a master machinist.

Is that machined from billet or a forging?
