I am currently installing C6 Zr1 brakes on my 1990 Zr1. I was hoping that the C4 to C6 Z06 apapters would work but they impact the C6 Zr1 caliper. My next move is to try C6 Z06 steering knuckles on my car. This brake conversion works on a C5 by changing to the C6 z06 knuckle so that is what I am trying. It looks observationally like the C6 Z06 knuckle should fit but.. the wheel hub isn't the same which leads me to believe I should install the C6 Z06 wheel bearing/hub. The problem with this is, does the wheel speed sensor for the C6 Z06 acquire data in the same way as my 1990 Zr1? Are the reluctors the same?
Any help in anyway is greatly needed and appreciated. |

I saw someone on one of the FB Corvette groups putting C7 Z07 brakes on his Z, from what I gathered he didn't use an adapter but just ovaled the existing bolt holes and the calipers bolted right up, the rotors needed to be shimmed a little to fit properly, not sure if he's a member here but he should be. Anyhow if those go on that easy it would seem like the way to go for a monster brake upgrade.

Yeah I saw that. The C7 Z06 caliper is not the same as the C6 ZR1 caliper although it would appear so at first glance

** The modification mentioned to bolt on the C7 stuff 'directly' is scary. I didn't mention it there but I ain't ever seen 'elongated' mounting points for safety related stuff. |

The ovaling wasn't much according to the guy doing this, just a tiny bit so the bolts went in straight.

OP, you might try contacting KORE3 to see if they have any ideas for you, they do a lot of brake conversion stuff including adapter brackets. I talked to them some years ago about doing a conversion and they seemed pretty sharp.

Update.
With some minor caliper modification (milling some inordinate material off the calipers) everything has bolted up with no need to try and use a C6 knuckle. *I don't think I am completely out of the woods yet but I THINK I have leaped the biggest hurdles. *I will post pics and updates when I am closer to being completed. *Thanks all for your help and input! |

Updates. Both front and rear calipers had to be milled to accept the C6 Z06 adapters. Also a universal parking brake kit had to be slightly modified to work with this set up as well. Hopefully another week and I’ll have the car on the ground.I'm using C6 ZR-1 *wheels as a temporary solution until I can get Forgelines ordered.
