I kicked on the A/C yesterday and noticed a horrible noise. Here is a youtube of the noise.

It was engine running and AUTO button pushed. If I turn it off, the horrible clanking sound stops.

It was still blowing out really cold air. So it might be on its way out?

It could be still be blowing the cold air because there is still sufficient freon in the system. I would imagine with the sound coming out of the compressor, that it probably is if not already on its way out...

Trying to remember but Dave H. (mgbrv8) did an entire rebuild on the AC compressor with great success. It was either posted here on the forum, or on his FB page.
Also had great pics on the rebuild. found it.... https://www.facebook.com/dave.hetric...1&l=bf12a0aa41

If you go to the Main registry web page and click the members only section After signing in and then click newsletter. I believe its article 37 where you can find the compressor rebuild section.
Thanks Tom for noticing ![]() Dave Hetrick Quote:

Rebuild compressor and then refill with R-12. That is only thing I could imagine doing.
