I agree Lee,if somebody isn't interested in a specific car than just STFU and keep it to themselves. I've commented at times but only when asked about a specific car.

I have no desire to sell my car (I love it), but I'm thinking about advertising it here for $48,000 and seeing how well you all can avoid the temptation of publicly questioning by sanity. :-)

I agree with Lee, 100%. Just poor taste and poor manners to interfere with someone's For Sale ad.
Let's think a little deeper before posting in a For Sale ad. We're all ZR-1 Brothers and Sisters here. ![]()

As others have said, I agree with Lee.

I've been in many of these discussions, so from the other side, many of these users are coming here solely to place a for sale ad. Some of them haven't even answered questions or interacted in their own for sale ads.
There are venues that allow no feedback, forums aren't one of those venues. A change of rules may prevent those comments, but I don't think stifling discussions in the hope that it raises ZR1 sale prices is overly ethical. I think the opposite could be argued about some of the comments. Does listing all these cars for pie in the sky prices artificially raise the price or values? Is that honest? Truthfully, the comments don't affect the value. People will list cars for what they hope to get, and buyers will pay what they want, and deals will be made in between. Random internet opinions aren't going to change people's minds about what they want to pay or list their cars at. And many of those for sale threads are getting dozens of free bumps to the top. The unsold cars don't say anything about the actual value of a car. The ones that have sold on here do. And they aren't saying great things about current values. When you take in outside evidence from the overwhelming majority of auction sales, they are showing the same trend. I started a valuation thread, but people would rather start the discussions in the for sale threads. As soon as discussion got switched to the valuation thread, it died. Although maybe a classifieds rule change would help shift the discussion back there. |

I agree with Lee also. If I want to sell my car, I can ask any price I want.
After all, it's my car. ![]() |

No one has said you can't. But then, on an open forum, shouldn't someone else be able to share their opinion? That's really the question at hand. Is the classified section an appropriate place for opinions, good, bad, or otherwise.

The problem is comments might deter a sale; your car is worth $X amount....not your place and no one here is a professional appraiser. Potentially even some liability if you are making unfounded statements...I would keep price opinions on the General forum.

That being said, I'm in agreement that there should be a rule change to keep that out of the classifieds. The problem is, that even after trying to shift the conversation to the general forum twice, people just continue to keep the conversation going there. There is no reason at this point that we can't discuss the cars in the general forum and just let the classifieds run their course. You didn't see me blow a gasket when people posted comments on the price of the ECU I was selling, but this seems to be less about the sellers being pissed and more about a handful of others. Best to just eliminate the possibility of arguments there. |

I am sure no one had malicious intent and they were only looking to help the person, just think its best to do it via private message. Its interesting I asked why there was "0" interest in my 92 on the other forum.
Feedback was it was alot for a C4 vs a c5/c6 and that financing in that amount was hard to come by
