Re: The first step in modding your ZR-1
Remember Paul, in Italia it is better to LOOK good than to feel good. Having said that, the Countach was and still is the one that defined SUPERCAR. And a poster of it could usually be found right next to the one of Farah Fawcett or Claudia Cardinale. Ciao.

I wonder what the original caption is for that graphic at the top. By the look on her face, he isn't looking at ZR-1's

Re: The first step in modding your ZR-1
Well, back to "mods"...
Porting the top end was my first mod. pretty sure I wound up with close to 400 at the wheels, but I didn't have dyno results until after the heads were ported the following winter. Headers (Stainless Works) were added between top-end porting and porting the heads. FYI, by the SOTP meter, I got prolly 80% of the improvement in performance by the top-end porting/headers combination alone. Porting the heads gave my another bump, but primarily at the upper end of the RPM range (peak hp is ≈ 6900-7000 RPM or 432 at the wheels). There are a few more "plums" I can reach from the ground: like porting the TB, and modding the air horn, and getting rid of those restrictive Magnaflow mufflers (plan on some Dynamax 17228s, prolly this winter). That's about it for HP mods (for now). But, if ever the motor has to come out again, CAMS and maybe bumping it to 380 cid...are in the offing...
