you can have the lower ET and faster MPH and still lose a heads up drag race
if the other guy leaves 1st you've gotta catch him and go quicker by at least that amount + again, the clock doesn't start until the beam's broken RT is the time between the green going on and the the beam being broken by the car moving. roll out, staging deep or shallow plays into it a little but means little to the average drag racer who just wants to see how quick/fast his car is. OBTW: bracket racing ain't real racin' |

Thanks. Guess I learned something. I have never been to a drag strip. Actually I'm glad to hear because I would like to get a time on my car but at my age and lack of experience I know my reaction time would be lame. However my bucket list is to put my z on a track like the NCM motor sports track. I drove there last year but elected not to run due to one of my wheels is slightly bent. But I will return!!

As it has been said, RT has nothing to do with your ET, only how to beat or lose to the other guy.
stock 90 ZR-1 with good driver (many laps to learn the car) will run 12.9 to 12.8 all day long. But you need a lot of seat time, 25 to 30 laps to get it down just right. My best bone stock was 12.82 at 112, with 18 psi in the rear, 60 psi in the front, 1/4 tank of gas, start out at 1000 to 1100 rpm and "feel it" out of the gates and feed it in hard as you go. just a little "bog" and off you go. need to shift as fast as you can in the 1 to 2 with a lift off the gas (no power shift) as the stock tires will not hold it unless the track is well prepped. than the 2 to 3 shift is a power shift, run In 3ed to the end do not pull 4th. you will be running right at about 6500 it the end. its a ride you will never forget when you get it all correct! My 90 is pretty stock and it ran in the high 12's with a bad 60ft time so with a perfect launch you might make it into the high 12.8.

my 90 ran 12.88 @112.68 w/138K on the clock, original cats and a Corsa; difference between A 13.4 and high 12s is launching at 3-3.5K

How is the MPH calculated? Mathematical or a speed trap at the finish line? I have no drag car experience but run a boat in the 10 second class. My speed trap is 132 ft. from the finish line. Sometimes it`s 66 ft..
