Very dry here in So. Cal.
It would be nice to receive SOME
of your water. We have been told to:
Take shorter showers, don't water our yards.
CAN'T WASH OUR CARS! We are supposed to
take them to a car wash where the water is recycled.
Good luck to Texas!

Seems like there oughta be a way to pipe excess water from the midwest/south out to Ca and Az... Like use old pipelines to tap into the rivers when they are in flood and send it West. Or build a big new one. Expensive yes - but might pay off in the long run???

Stay dry and safe Texan Brothers! Storming pretty bad here on the east coast as well. Lightening pretty bad as well. There's a house down the street on the golf course that got struck earlier and is on fire

It could be done as a Huge Public works project. think of the employement opportunity for the US. Every time the Missiissippi overflows and you have epic flooding like this in Texas.

I am dying to drive this car but the rain won't stop. So I have spent two nights this week in the garage getting to know her. Hopefully next week I can get her out and through inspections to get her registered. Good thing she is use to sitting idle for long periods of time. FYI, the street in front of the house will get 2.5ft of water in no time. Then it disappears an hour after the rain stops. This is insane.

All the lakes in Texas are man made with the exception of one; Caddo Lake. When they were mapping these lakes out and designing them I don't know why they didn't connect them all for flood control. They could have used a hub and spoke design and opened one valve while closing others.

Of course, what we're dealing with right now is more flash flood than anything else. Like Eric said...an hour after the flood the water recedes. That's not a lake issue. I agree with GC. It would still be a great public works project. They could employ inmates at .60 a day for labor. Before I get flamed I have a family member in prison who would love to go outside and actually work. And he'd do it for free.
