Of course you want to get the RED book of the correct year. How-some-ever, I've got a white copy for my 90, and it hasn't let me down yet. (knock, knock...) (I DO have the RED engine supplement tho that came with the set.)
Not intending to steal the thread, but, here's a question for RED BOOK owners: Does your set also contain the "vin 8" material (vin 8 = the L98), or is it exclusive to the Z? My WHITE copy contains the standard mo. stuff as well, and I was just curious. |

The red cover Field Service Manuals the I have (1990,1993,1994) all contain the VIN 8 as well as the VIN J sections.
I had a "white cover" version of one of the FSM at some point in the past, but it was missing sections, and the pages were not in order. I don't know if it was a preliminary publication or a poorly produced copy machine version. I got rid of it because it is frustrating enough to find some things in the FSM without the added frustration of the page you are looking not being there. Jim |

As stated the orig manuals cover all the Corvette models.
The part explosions, in the parts book, are very helpful when doing stuff. |

I bought all 3 red books for my 91 on ebay. 2 regular vette and lt5 of doom supplement. To answer your guys questions the white book was not the original mechanics a book that Chevy used the red one was the original service manual.
