1992 Radio Speaker & Amp Questions
My rear speakers pop and crackle, not sure if it is only one or both and the front speakers sound thin and tinny. I noticed the rears seem to be different regarding how they are amped than my 95. I could not locate the rear speaker amp in the rear compartment, I was looking in the dark so it may be there somewhere....
Where should the amps be located for the front and back speakers? Does each speaker require a separate amp? How are the from speaker covers removed? The Mid America catalog refers to a 4" and 6" front and rear woofers, where are these located? Is there a standard size or are all of them mounted in the car? One of the ways they say to know if it is a bad relay is they will pop when stereo is off, mine only do it if they are on.

Re: 1992 Radio Speaker & Amp Questions
Where should the amps be located for the front and back speakers?
the speakers pods (boxes) are not that difficult to remove from the car. For the fronts, remove the carpeted sill ( that will be a few Phillips screws that need to be removed. then lift the sill out of the car . the front grills are attached so do not worry about them. after they are out you will find 4 7mm screws holding the front speaker pods in place. remove them and the pods will come loose ( there may be some black tacking glue holding so pry slowly with a slight force. unplug speaker pod and take unit to the work bench. at this point you can remove the grills & speakers if you need to. or flip pod face down and you will see 4 more screws holding a rear plate. remove the 4 screws then the square plate and that is where the front amp is located. the rear speaker pod can be remove just as easy. first remove the speaker grill 6 Phillip screws. then carefully pull the carpet from around the speaker exposing the full speaker plate. then there are about 6 or so 7mm screw holding the speaker mounting plate to the enclosure. unplug the harness and remove the plate you will see the amps on the back of the mounting plate. Does each speaker require a separate amp? yes 4 amps in total How are the from speaker covers removed? remove the carpeted sills ( a few phillips screws ) they are attached as one unit. The Mid America catalog refers to a 4" and 6" front and rear woofers, where are these located? Is there a standard size or are all of them mounted in the car? the front speaker are a 4 inch and a tweeter. the rear is a 6 1/2 inch speaker.
