WTB - I need the door glass guide (C4) - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Does anybody know if these will work on a 90 or 91? I know it was an improvement for all MY92s and up because of the rattle glass problems in 90and 91 when the windows are down. Anybody has this mod or done this yet? I dont think so im not sure if the 90s and 91s have the rod guide that holds this stop in the window, nor the hole in the window where the guide stop goes? Phil ??/ Anybody please advise -=JEFF=- ?

Note to JIM I think I have this specific socket with the two tines on it. LMK if you like to borrow it? Also Jim great pics below of the work details.

The parts are still available at the dealer and if you've a relationship with a dealer you should be able to buy them competitively priced.

The parts were added in MY '93 I believe and the glass was updated at the same time. These would not work in '90 cars as the glass isn't the same as later cars. "91 & '92 if the glass is original I don't believe the hole is present unless the glass has been replaced and then it's likely.

The parts mentioned are '93 thru end of production.

That is a 'spanner' socket and if yours has the round projections that are direct fit to the spanner nut that would be fine but *I don't believe the guide uses the spanner nut. The 'spanner' socket is generally pretty easily manufactured using the appropriate old socket and a grinder/dremel to modify it.

* I found a couple references to the 'spanner' so it's likely used. I've never had a later door apart.

I believe it uses a spanner nut as can be seen in the mirror in the corvette forum link I provided in my post. Good info thanks.

Has anybody done this conversion yet with an earlier model car? GC

I see a couple revisions on the glass BUT they're all 4 hole glass so if a person had the guide channels and the stops I would think they could be maybe added to the '91 or 92. I can't find any visual images of the '91+ door glass. I can find many for the '84 - '90 and again it's a 4 hole glass but is the forward most hole in the same location? If it were then the add to a '90 could be possible but you need to be able to cannibalize '93+ doors for the guide channels. There are left and right with no availability from GM.

If someone has a '93+ door on the ground they could remove the glass and I believe comparisons by snapshots might answer the question: Can these be added?
