Our county had a citizen disposal area that takes motor oil and coolant.

in Ca if you are a big business and deal in volume, you can recycle it or pay/give it to somebody who does, but as an individual, you can dump x amount of gallons in the sewer system (not storm drain!) as the treatment plant can handle a small amount.
I actually found this published! in California! |

I would think there would be a local recycling center up there that would take it. The county I live in has one near me, open 6 days a week, that takes most any liquid as long as it is in sealed jugs. And a bunch of other stuff that I wouldn't even thought of recycling unless I saw them taking it. City has one open 6 days a week too. Check your city or county websites...

Could it be that one location playing games? I thought ALL of the oil change places had to accept waste oil AND coolant. The place I go does take oil, and has taken coolant in the past. But, then I've known the owner for 14 years now - so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. (That and having 3 cars he services...)
I have plastic 5 gal gas can that I store coolant in until I can dispose of it. Would the city take the time to empty it and leave the can, or would they take can and all on that one Saturday a month??? |

You guys are sitting on a gold mine & don't know it ... bring it down to the mountains, find one of the locals with a still (not too difficult), and convert it into some good "hooch"
![]() of course, getting around the tax issue might be a problem ... ![]() |
