Hi,
I have read that the green Zerex antifreeze is recommended for the LT5, but this is not available in Europe. The GM dealer near me has a G48 type antifreeze. It looks green/blue, and it appears to be equivalent to the 1825M GM specification. Has anyone used this, or should I play it safe and order the Zerex Original Green antifreeze. Thanks, Ken |

I decided not to take a chance and I ordered three gallons of Zerex Original Green via Amazon. The antifreeze was 35€ and shipping 54€, but worth the price for the safety factor. I believe I need two gallons of the concentrate but I ordered one more in case I need to add a bit.

I would think that there would be some other kind of "conventional" coolant for sale for older automobiles that is a common brand, but I do not know what those brands are in Europe.
One could reference the chemistry through an MSDS maybe? |

Hi,
I had found these charts on the Valvoline website. The G48 corrosion mass was double the Original Green, and the G48 also has 30 ppm of phosphates. The order from the US only tales 7 to 14 days, so I decided to get the Original Green antifreeze. Zerex - Typical Physical Properties vs G48 Original Green Antifreeze Glycols mass % 93 96 Corrosion Inhibitors mass % 4.0 2 Water mass % 3.0 2 Flash Point °F/°C 250/121 250/121 Weight per gallon @ 60°F/16°C lbs./KG 9.3818/4.2555 9.363/4.247 Silicon PPM 250 250 max. Phosphates PPM 30 max. Thanks, Ken |

Hallo Ken,
There is GM dealer near my house in Augsburg. I can't remember the name of the city buts its near Augsburg. There another GM dealer in Russelsheim, they were able to get me parts i needed for my 69 vet a couple of years ago. Nelson007 decided not to take a chance and I ordered three gallons of Zerex Original Green via Amazon. The antifreeze was 35€ and shipping 54€, but worth the price for the safety factor. I believe I need two gallons of the concentrate but I ordered one more in case I need to add a bit. Ken[/QUOTE]
