Door Ajar
I've just started having problems with the 'Door Ajar' light coming on frequently. At first I thought perhaps it was me just not closing things quite right but now its appearing when I hit bumps in the road etc. The lights all flicker like crazy and I feel like I've been transported back to the disco era
I know there are the two door switches and one for the hatch. Are these servicable at all or is it just a case of replace the bad one(s)? Also, is there anyway of checking which is faulty or am I best just replacing all of them? Thanks Dave

Re: Door Ajar
I hate electerical issues! Dave by "they all flicker" do you mean all the interior courtsey lights or is it the Dash cluster lights, center display (DIC + Radio + A/C panel) also?
If it's just the courtsey lights I would say that the common ground would be the place to start. Did you have anything apart lately where you might have pinched a ground wire? I don't know where the interior lighting is grounded but it's gotta go back to some lump o iron somewhere. This is a dumb suggestion....try checking the grounds at the back of the motor and look to see if we have any going to the frame under the car. Sorry man that's all I got without my FSM/electrical book! Tom

Re: Door Ajar
Thanks for the reply Tom. Its the courtesy lights that are flickering - I should have made it clearer. I hadn't thought about the ground issue but that's a possibility too. I haven't had anything apart to pinch anything - the only thing I've done recently is added one of Marc's performance chips and the door thing was acting up before then.
I'll see if I can check the grounds, the door switches are available so I'll order some just in case.

Re: Door Ajar
Hi Dave
Oh, hey did you check the door lock cylinders. They have some electrical connection to the timer for the footwell & hatch & I think the rear view light. Mine has a loose connection at the passenger door cylinder so when I put the key in to unlock the lights activate sometimes and sometimes not! Also I figure that the timer could be another source for a bad connection. Sorry again I should go look in the electrical book.....but I really don't want to take apart my door panel! Tom
