This, and the "where do corvettes reside thread" only confirm, to me, how rare these beasts are. I know Aussies who have one, and quite a few in Spain, and I'm sure the rest of Europe....all add up to only a few hundred at best. Yes I know there are hundreds of zr 1 owners who don't post on any forum. I also know I have Never passed one on the road. I'm the only one in my club with one. They are just plain scarce. I have two and want a third. When the collecting world finally realizes not just the scarcity but the uniqueness and just plain fun of these things (not even considering the huge chunk of GM and auto history), the prices will skyrocket (think 63 split window or big block stingray). It may be a while, but eventually the bleedin' obvious will come true. Till then, love 'em for what they are.

We have found the engine & transmission of this car in a junkyard in Madrid, and as per information given by the owner, unfortunately the car was scraped and dismantled about 10 years ago due to an accident that damaged the entire rear end. They only kept engine & trans and are still for sale now.

Remember that 1990 LT5 engine I found in a junkyard in Madrid (Spain) last year ?? Well, finally I could manage to buy this engine after some negotiation with the owner.
At the end he sold me the engine for more less than I was offering him one year ago!! CRISIS RULES!!!

The flywheel is missing, but I have the power steering pump (not pictured).

The engine has been sitting in the junkyard for 10 years, so I don't expect that the engine is OK to be dropped as is in a ZR-1. I prefer to dissasembly it completely and see its condition...

Once done, and after seeing how is from the inside, I will decide if it can be rebuilt or it will be used as spares donor.

No trace of the transmission now....

New 1991 ZR-1 Corvette surfaced today in Spain. We had no proof of existance of it until today, that the current owner contacted me requesting some parts for it.

The car has been sitting in a garage for several years, and now he is repairing it to bring it back to life.

It is located in the south of Spain, in Cadiz.

Bright red exterior with flame red interior.

[93 ZR1 Barcelona]

Recently I could obtain from a junkyard in Spain another ZR-1 engine assembly, this time corresponding to a 1991 model, VIN number 1G1YZ23J6M5800540 which is listed as totaled in the first page of this post.

The engine is nearly complete, except from the flywheel, alternator, a/c compressor, ignition coils & cables and some vacuum secondaries equipment.

Condition of the enigne is unknown, as it comes from a Corvette crashed from behind so many years ago.

After more than 10 years laying around the scrapyards, this engine has finally found a home.

Excellent! I have '91 S# 0666 and have been wondering where 0665 and 0667 might be; now I know where the latter is. Hope to have the opportunity to connect with the Spanish brothers in the near future.
