Its only original once. Put it on display as is, with a placard history of the sinkhole incident. It wont be the same with replacement parts.

Same what!
Like original air in tires!
Original battery!
Original gas, oil and antifreeze!
All this I have heard people brag about at car shows.
Replacement parts do not make any car not original!

I think we're talking about replacement frame, replacement body, replacement interior, replacement everything except a wheel or two.

It is an interesting argument for sure, but if I had a say, I wouldn't want any of my donations/money to go towards rebuilding complete wrecks. It makes more sense to restore just the moderately damaged ones. I also like the idea of leaving them all smashed up and on special display.

Then there is personal bias...like for me, I don't have too much interest in the 93 ruby car- it's just a standard LT1 car and you could find another cherry replacement easier than repairing it if you ask me.

Then restoration guys are all about it to showcase their talents and resolve- although this might not be worthwhile financially unless GM or an insurance company subsidizes some cost.

At first I was thinking that such and such could be rebuilt and restored, but now that some time has passed, I realize that I don't have too much affection for any of those cars because they weren't mine, and some of them had no history of having been driven, raced, or anything other than sitting there looking shiny. I don't care what happens to them I guess.

The Spyder won't require a replacement frame. You'd be surprised at how many original items will be used in the "restoration" of the car, including much of the suspension and the entire drivetrain.

I think that when they remake the side gills they need to repro them for some of us...
