Unless I misunderstood, I thought USA was asking about the shifter not the Hurst T handle. The picture of my console shows a Hurst short throw shifter w a C4/C5 knob, both of which use the key lock.

No I believe I did - I thought the conversation with still "shift knobs". I do like the stock shifter though with just the Hurst ball. The balls available now I don't think are all the Hurst (branded on each side) as most are accustomed to and I believe the diameter has been reduced. The ball shifter mounted as I mentioned does effectively shorten the shift lever considerably!

I might like to try a Hurst shifter ball on my stock shifter. You guys pretty much answered my questions about doing that.
