Re: Replacing coolant hoses,any tips?
the water pump hose is the toughest to get to . but not too bad I pulled every hose off first then put on the water pump hose (the one I am talking about has the spring in it . are you putting the stk rubber type back on or the samco hoses . ? I used silicone grease on mine and they slid on slick as .....I also went with a good quality worm clamp hose . I got tired of getting my fingers bit by the factory stuff . I have never done the samco install. oh remember to reinstall the spring on the water pump hose the new one doesn't usually come with the spring . it isn't a tough job at all . hope this helps .

Careful around the thermostat assembly. The hoses can be very tight.
I've heard of these getting broken just getting the hoses off. Always use spring type clamps. They keep the squeeze on even after the rubber (or silicon) deforms.

LT5 Radiator and Initial Coolant Fill Tricks I use single edge razor blade to cut longitudinal on old hoses over connections. Then use flat head screwdriver to split hose open. I use a bit of permatex on standard hoses and no permatex on SAMCO hoses Jerry has the rounded edge hose clamps I use on ALL coolant hoses rounded edge hose clamps

My technique to get the original hoses to release their bond without cutting them is to use those little picks with different bends on them to lift the edge while spraying a little WD-40 along the edge. Then work the pick around to let the lube get all around the circumference. As you wedge the tool under neath, it will eventually unseal and then comes off much more easily.
