Default Slave Cylinder Replacement

I've had my 90 now for 3 years. Since I've had it- it rarely shifts cleanly into 3rd. I had always assumed it was a damaged synchro. I changed the transmission fluid and there was no change in the shift behaviour.

My clutch slave cylinder had already been replaced, but was weeping a little bit of fluid - not enough to need to fill the resevoir more than once a year. I bought a new slave from Jim at Powertorquesystems (very helpful guy) about a year ago - realizing I would eventually need to replace the it.

So - I changed the slave last weekend, and lo and behold it has shifted smooth as silk into 3rd ever since!

I've read of a few others who have had similar transmission behaviour - you might want to take a close look at your slave. Not a big deal to change (just a PITA getting under the car...)

I just noticed a week or so ago the clutch fluid reservoir hidden behind the ECM. So I ordered new clutch fluid (probably still the original in there). I noticed a squealing a few months ago and thought it was the power steering or the serpentine belt. So I changed the belt and power steering fluid. Today I just noticed the squealing is actually happening when I push the clutch in. Hopefully a fluid change fixes it. If not, looks like I'll have to the same .

Sounds like throwout bearing.

Well, that doesn't look like any easy fix. Figures. Wouldn't mind doing the work if the parts were free. This car is slowly bleeding me to death, lol.
