I had originally changed out my OE coils for Jegs coils when I did my injector replacement. Subsequently I changed out the Jegs coils, after 3 yrs, for GM coils. The GM coils have been in there for about 32k miles and seem to be just fine. I didn't see any evident difference between the two brands by looking at my plugs, AC 41-602's, which I change every year.

The reason for going back to the GM coils was that they are specifically for an LT5, or so GM says; where the Jegs coils had other applications besides an LT5. I figure the environment in the valley of an LT5, for the coils, is fairly harsh temperature wise.

Good point. I wonder how much testing went into the non-OE coils, being used on the LT-5, other than our members here. From what I've read it gets PD hot under there.

I've had the same set of MSD coils and wires for the last 3+ years. Also used MSD coil and wires on my 84 HEI system together w the MSD 6A box.
The 6A finally died after 10 years.

A very timely question for me. A month ago I installed 4 new MSD coils and got 8 misfiring plugs. A switch back to OE Delco works fine. The MSD were made in.....China (No!!!!). Advice to myself: dont swap for the sake of 'not having to go under there again' (you will regardless and get used to it) and if you have a problem with coils, use OE parts.

Coils, wires, or both? I don't have it back together so it would be easy to pop a few pictures.

I wish I could give a better thought process or some testing evidence that supports my thought Joe, but I don't have anything. All I know is that GM listed two P/N's of coils like our coils. One P/N is for an LT5 motor and the other P/N is for other GM applications. Now this was like back in 07 or maybe 08, and I don't know what they list now. We all know how long it takes for an LT5 to get stone cold after reaching normal operating temps, so I just chickened out with the Jegs coils! LOL Besides the spark plugs told me nothing by just looking at the tips, and I didn't cut them. But still I saw no difference, and I just threw out plugs going back to 06. The only modification or liberty I took with ignition parts was a set of Magnacore 10mm wires specifically for an LT5.
