You can look at the date code on the tires. If they were made earlier than 1990, they won't have one (as far as I know). If they were made after 1990, they'll have a 3 digit code that identifies the week and year they were made. For example 341 would be the 34th week of 1991 that they were made. If the tires were made later than the car was completed, then they can't be original.

I think I used to have pictures when I was selling my GS-C's but they are gone now.

Also, if they aren't Goodyear Gatorbacks, they certainly aren't original.

The Sumitomos are a decent tire for everyday driving...and of course the price is right. You can buy three sets of Sumitomos for the price of ONE set of Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3s. Another one to consider in the European Market is the Vredestein. I have not used them but they sure look like they are decent tires and again...the price is right.

If your tires are original or even 10 years old...it would be a good idea to replace them especially if you plan on exploring the outer limits with your ZR-1.

The name off the tires are: Goodyear eagle zr40 in front, zr35 on the back.
I bought this car unseen from germany this christmas and have not tried the car yet (snow here),but the tires looks old.
The car looks very nice. Some oil leeking from the oil pan(missing 2 bolts) and the sys light is blinking.

Those two bolts MAY NOT actually be missing...the pan could however still be leaking...it is a common issue. You will need to lift the car and retorque the pan bolts....the ones you can get at. You may find that what appear to be missing bolts are not in fact missing....none ever went in there. Check it out to be sure.

The tires are probably at least 8 years old.

The SYS light blinking is likely due to LOW VOLTAGE on the battery. If the battery will take a charge and hold it...then you will be fine...if not...you'll need ot replace the battery. No ta big deal...but it will need to be done. The LOW VOLTAGE causing the flashing SYS light is also common.

A good place to price check is www.tirerack.com. I just replaced the front tires on my ZR1 with firestones. After considering the summittomo tires i ended up buying the firestones for $157.00 each because the sales rep said they would better match the goodyears i have on the back.

If you tilt the rearview mirror just right, you should be able to see a huge grin.

Now that there's some funny s_ _t for sure. Enjoy the grin (and the car).

Seriously, go to the Net Registry site and read through the Buying a Used ZR-1 Section. I have provided a link below.
