Serpentine belt path

Hi All,

I am have a problem finding a serpentine belt that will work with my smaller diameter alternator pulley. I have one quick question:

As the belt comes over the alternator pulley the tensioner will push the belt towards the other belt. How close together can the accending and decending belt come before there is a problem ?
