To any or all:
Is it, as it states in the FSM, really necessary to drain the fuel tank from a ZR-1 to remove and replace this unit? I bought one from Jerry's Gaskets because the car has been cranking longer and longer as time goes by and it has 110,172 miles on it. I'm in the middle of a huge round of upgrades and replacements (starter, suspension, brakes etc.). It's in my garage on jack stands with a full fuel tank, and over 100" of snow so far this year so I can't run it dry. I don't have a container large enough to hold the fuel. Anyone done it with fuel in the tank? Rich |

Absolutely not required to drain the tank! The only problem with having fuel in the tank, is that when the pump assembly is removed, there's a big opening through which fuel vapor can exit, potentially filling your garage or shop with fumes.

Also, be sure to change your fuel filter at the same time.
