Default How to spot a 89 Pilot ZR-1 from behind!

Thanks to a tip from our Spanish chapter member Pedro, I learned another new thing. The Pilot ZR-1s have the rear "Corvette" emblem slightly lower on the rear bumper. look at these two pictures for comparison:

This smaller gap also exists on #004 so it appears they moved it most likely starting with #040.

Thanks again Pedro.

Eric

Here's something to the contrary. I don't know if my car ever had the rear bumper replaced but here is a pic of the car from behind. The CORVETTE emblem is higher (like regular production) and there are holes for an emblem (LT5 I presume). Strange. I'll try to verify from Geoff if the rear bumper was ever replaced.

Britt and I were having this conversation since he was trying to figure where to put the script on his car. Mine has it low also.

Queenie.

It would appear from the early picture of Geoffs car they were doing it either way on the 88s and did not finally decide until 89 # 40.

Hey Eric, thanks for the compliment. It's a homemade theory, probably not 100 % accurate, the real experts can tell.

I had a great time with all of you back in May 2010 at the 20th Anniversary Gathering

Well #004 has it lower too. So I bet although #004 was produced before #003 that they had the same placement. Eric
