Do you need new head bolts?
Since you asked here are my thoughts. Use the OE bolts. I have reused mine if i had to guess at least 20 times,no issues. ARP's for $75 each stud or Stockers Free Pete

GC use the head bolts, as the block was tq plate honed with bolts not studs.
Ron's Studs use every thread in the block. the bolts are on the short side, not sure how much the change would be for liner pull. |

Head studs are better than bolts.Head studs pull more evenly and clamp straighter since it doesn't cause a twisting force on the block, and in normal engines it doesn't twist the top of the cyclinder. I replaced the liners with steel ones from LA sleeve companies sleeves using a 4 inch bore and 4" small block chevy forged turbo pistions. I dont trust bolts when you boost engines. I used a torque plate with the head studs when I honed the engine so it is round and straight. I also used ARP Main studs and had to peice together those studs from studs arp had in stock. I will tune it for 1000Hp corrected at the tires that should be good for diving around and having power when needed. I was told that these blocks are good for only about 1000hp . At my altitude that will be about 800 hp actual at the tires and 875-925 at the crank that is about all these engines can stand.
And YES $1350 for head bolts gave me sticker shock money that I will never get back. But it is just one small cost compaired to the money this project has cost. Computer systems for engine transmission and ignition was $10000.00. paddle 6 speed AUTOMATIC paddle transmission was $10000.00 also not to mention the endless money in this Engine . All well I want some thing so unike any other car out there and this engine does it. Long live lt5 |

No doubt studs are better.
Most N/A stock/mild builds reusing stock bolts is fine. Pete
