Greetings to the Forum
I need a favor from someone on the forum. I need the diameter measurement of the alterator housing on a stock alterator from a 1990 ZR. If someone could measure the diameter of the rear of the housing and let me know what it is I can be sure if my new unit will fit. Many thanks, Don ![]() |

5 5/8" is what I get when I measure the back side with a tape. That is not using the ears that are for the bolts that hold the front & back sides of the case though.
If I use my digital slide ruler I get 5.6". This is a 91 alternator, it's my spare. I do think that all the LT5's use the same alternator? ![]() Tom

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the heads up on the LT1/4 aternators. Could you get back to me with just what the difference is, in alternators, between the LT5 and the LT1/4? Regards, Don |

My case appears to be the right size @ 5.6 in. I just hope the mounting ears are in the right place. The electrical seems to be OK. The pulley diameter is a bit larger so I will have to pick a longer belt but that is no big problem.
Thanks for the help Don ![]() |
