Re: Finally. Good grief.
I wouldn't call it lucky Pete. When I moved out here from San Jose California in 1994 we went through Palm Springs and the temp was 121 degrees but it didn't feel like it because there was no humidity. Then we went through Arizona. It was 115 degrees but again with no humidity it didn't feel bad at all. Here the humidity is so high that you just feel gross and sticky. Now I'm so climatized to the humidity that when I go back to Cali to visit family my lips get chaped and my skin gets dry.
Oh yea! Almost forgot to mention that among all the stinging biting insects they have out here, We have this one very pissed off insect called Fire Ants. You step on one of those mounds and buddy they will light your azz up. They latch on to your leg with their mouth and then procede to sting you repeatedly with their rear stinger and leave hundreds of welts all over you that itch like crazy. It literally feels like your on fire. Hahaha! I've seen more than a few people do the Rumple Stilskin dance when they put their foot in the wrong place. Desert heat near the ocean is rough. I felt 45C in western Australia next to the Indian Ocean. Our work gear required long sleeve shirts and hard hats...now that makes you sweat. At the moment, it is pleasantly 68F in San Diego Co, the reason I still live here. |
