I have masking tape lines on the front post near the controls noting maximum height for each car. The cars have to go high enough to engage the safety catches so you can relieve hydraulic pressure while the car sits. When you take one down you have to raise it slightly to release the safety catches before lowering. It took some careful trial and error when I first set it up. --Bob
