Mine makes a similar sound when it's cold, under 30 degrees F and the first start up. I've noticed that it stops if I put it in neutral and release the clutch so I'm pretty sure my noise is clutch...

Just realized it was for a LT1 car. You probably already knew about these. Not sure if the reproducer offers one with the cut out for the power switch.
