You are correct sir. I replaced the original unit with ACDelco D1808A and the gauge has been behaving.

My oil pressure gauge seems to work correctly most of the time. It reads about 40psi at idle and close to 80psi while driving. But sometimes the gauge will begin to jitter and read more than 80psi....
