Re: help on keys
Any Chevy dealer can help you.
Bring your original set and a copy of your registration (just in case). |

Re: help on keys
You will need proof of ownership and the VIN. A Chevrolet dealership can get the VATS key code from your VIN number.

Re: help on keys
is the vats key code the code for the little pellet on the key or does it include the info to reproduce the whole key . i had previosly got the correct blank keys with the right pellet code for both my zr1s. just hadnt gotten around to getting them copied . i am getting copies made for my 92 tomarrow .i have the correct blank for the 90 but nothing to make a copy from ??/ thanx for the info so far.i guess i will fess up as to where i lost the keys , at one of nevadas finest brothels. guess more than my business went into the hole :)

Re: help on keys
Call the dealer and see if they can still get the key codes.
im not sure if they still have the stuff from back then. I do have an ignition switch with key if you need one Id sell if not to hard to get in and swap them then you can get the key cut with the correct pelet for your car with this lock cylinder. the code has nothing to do with the switch its all in the BCM. |

If you already have the correct blanks, you're over the biggest hurdle. The VIN should provide the Dealer with the key cut info. |

Re: help on keys
I had my dealer check the resistance of my key (no charge) and I wrote it down for future reference. I also ordered a blank key with correct resistance from MidAmerica or Eckler's. I believe it was about $14. I would suggest this to all who have not done this yet. I was a boy scout many moons ago and still remember the motto: "Be Prepared".
