LED vs Stock

5 Attachment(s)
Installed LEDs in our friends 93.
Wife's 91 stock vs his 93 with LEDs

Did you ground the fog lite relay or use the LOAD RESISTOR method or...?

I grounded it by bending over lug 86 of the fog light relay and soldering on a ground wire.

Yup. That explains why the fogs are ON with the high beams. I guess that must be illegal in some areas - to have the fogs AND the high beams on @ the same time. Well, anyway...that's how they operated from the factory (no fogs w/ the high beams on). Personally, I don't see how it matters. Even on LO beam, if I turn the fogs off, I can barely tell a difference. But, I opted for the LOAD resistor's "plug and play" option: could have saved a few bucks by grounding the relay tho.

Anyway... LED headlights make a night and day difference!

I have LED headlights and LED Fog Lights. i added one relay and they all work like stock.

Relay was added prior to the LED conversion and still worked like stock

This weekend I changed my mind and removed the ground method.
I reinstalled a new relay and went with the 168 bulb method instead.

Re: LED vs Stock

IMHO this is a better way

One added relay:
Cut Lt Grn ON OEM Fog Light Relay
Power side of Lt Grn to Pin 86 of New Relay
Pin 85 and Pin 30 of New Relay to Ground (New Wire)
fog light side of LT Grn to 87a of New Relay.

I found the Same style OEM relay on a harness and cut a length of wire with the relay socket.. I removed the terminal from the OEM relay and moved it to the new relay. Put this new relay right next to the OEM one in the dash.. works great

That's how I plan to do my wife's Z.

I decided to do this one as simple as possible for a friend of ours that doesn't do very much on his own cars. (headlight removal vs. under dash hush panel)
I even bagged a new 168 bulb with instructions and placed it in the console.

What LEDs are recommended for a 90?

I guess it would help if I were specific. I am thinking initially the headlights and fog lights. Possibly the tail lights in the future.

Re: LED vs Stock

I would be careful about any Generic LEDs.. I have found they cause FM Interference,

I have GE Nighthawk LEDs for headlights,

https://www.walmart.com/ip/GE-Lighti...BoChagQAvD_BwE

I have a pair of BeamTech Fog lights
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which I was told should not cause interference however, a pair of BeamTech Headlights caused interference on my wife's 2014 Caravan, so I am hoping to not have that issue

For brake lights I am using Sylvania ZEVO (No FM interference issues). Front Turn signals are an off brand I got here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am hoping the fronts are not an issue either, I did the Fog lights and front turn signals right when I put the car away so I have not fully tested them yet for Interference
