I've had them in my car for twenty years and(60K) mi.after a stock coil pack went bad. Based on that, I would recommend them.

I have been using AC Delco oem coils for many years and will be switching to Sreamin Demon coils and MSD wires on my newly rebuilt motor.

I had Screamin Demon coils many years ago, one failed on a track day and then some time later I noticed they were all cracking. Hope you have better luck than I did.

How long did you use the coil before it failed?

I'm not positive but I want to say about 4 years, it may have been less. It was a very long time ago

Karl,

I bought my first ZR in 2007 and replaced the original coils w MSDs. I needed to replace them this year when I realized, accidentally, that the cases were cracking. I replaced several months ago w AC Delco coils. So the original MSDS were good for quite sometime.

I also had Screamin Deamon coils on my 90 and they lasted about 3-4 years and one failed. Went back to AC Delco and that was 10 years ago.

5 years ago replaced working originals with AC Delco as a precaution. 3 months ago two of those coils failed. Replaced with four Standard Blue Streak. One of those failed within 100 miles. Replaced it with a known good 5 year old AC Delco and called it done. I am getting good at plenum pulls.

Thanks for sharing. I guess the moral of the story is, it it ain't broke just leave it alone? I am going to tear into under the plenum since I am finally getting around to installing a spare ported top end. I was going to replace the original coil packs (new MSDs on the shelf) just because while I'm in there with new everything. I think I'll just leave the old, original coils alone before I start having problems (95 with 31K miles). I guess they don't make anything like they used to.

Re: Which coil pack do you have?

My '92 had what appeared to be an original set when I replaced my injectors in '17. They all had cracked housings. I put MSD's in and so far haven't had any problems. After seeing this thread, I decided to look and see what's out there. There are now two AC Delco coils to choose from on RA. There is now an "AC Delco Professional" with brass terminals and a slightly different housing that is molded in a similar shape to the blue streak coil.

I put in the professionals 5 years ago. 2 failed. New blue streaks. One bad. Replaced with a used professional. 30 year old 40 k mile oem on the shelf yet.
