Re: Mercury Marine builds DOHC LSx motor
That engine looks pretty wide, not sure it would fit anything but a C4 or larger vehicle.

GM Powertrain seem to have been busting their collective humps to avoid the obvious; the performance advantage of the DOHC architecture. MM was, I thought, being a little vague when asked about a small block version of their quad-valve DOHC beast; during our factory tour a couple months back. I guess we know why! It may take a little while to sort it out, but if it performs, as I'm sure it will, it will be a (pushrod) killer! Can't wait to see the numbers!! |
Re: Mercury Marine builds DOHC LSx motor
unless they can get the volume up it will be a bit cost prohibitive
but that never stopped me before I gave my builder an unlimited budget, and to my surprise he exceeded it!! |

Don't forget MM is used to dealing in much smaller numbers than GM. Everybody else is pedaling the same kind of cylinder head for the LSx. Here comes MMR really changing the game. BE interesting to get volume # for vendors like TFS, AFR, Edelbrock etc. |
Re: Mercury Marine builds DOHC LSx motor
As said when the LT5 was being developed; 'MM is experienced at building engines that run at full throttle most of the time, whereas most car engines do not. That is an important distinction!'
It will be interesting to see some numbers - numbers that include $$ too. |

Wow - a new modern heart for the BEAST!!!
It could make a nice speedboat motor as well. |
