Default Wheel lug key lost...

I seem to have lost the wheel lug key for my 91 ZR1. In the owner's manual, it states that if it is lost, a replacement key can be ordered but I need the serial number from the "lug key kit", which I have no clue of the whereabouts either.

Has anyone been able to order a new key from Gorilla without the serial number? The rear tire is flat and I've got the thing up on jacks to prevent rim damage. I've checked in every possible location for the key and kit and there is nothing.

Go to Auto-Zone or PepBoys and get the tool that look like an impact -socket which has reverse threads. Tap in on, that take a racket off.

The only thing is that you will have to replace the lug nut.

I have tried it and it works perfectly fine. .

The locking lug is somewhat a false security- good protection for the causal opportunistic thief... but any competent professional thief or tire changing company have the 'tool' to remove a locking lug. Basically, they drive a special 'lug wrench' with internal blades or spikes into the locking lug and then can be spun off. Of course the locking lug is damaged and will require you replace them all, but you will also have a new locking lug key.
Also, if you take a very clear picture of the locking lug along with proof/explanation of ownership and situation and discuss with Gorilla or McGard they can send you a new 'key' without serial number.

Gorilla was never the supplier for the OEM locking nuts. Amcor was. Inside the green bag was a card with your lock id # on it. You were supposed to send them the card and 10 bucks and you got a new key.

The last I knew Amcor would still honor a request for a replacement with an original card and whatever the amount is on the card. I've not tried in a couple years but it usually did. Also if you don't have the card you can go to a dealer that might still have the master sets of "keys" ID it and place an order either on line or over the phone. The phone order with "no card" will be substantially more money!

You might try a call or email with a "high resolution" image of yours also. Never tried it!
